The Brief
The complete transformation of a 1960’s suburban house was the goal of our clients. Inspired by classic design philosophies and iconic furniture, the homeowners desired a kitchen that provided incredible cooking, a social space, and a simple style that would complement their vision.
The Design
The property transformation included opening up the mid-section of the house with large glazing panels and painting the brick house dark grey! It was a very radical idea that they achieved with stunning affect.
The kitchen space was equally transformed, opening into the dining room and summer room. The resultant layout frames views of the open feature staircase beyond.
The couple are keen cooks and therefore the combination of quality, functionality and stylish design of Gaggenau appliances suited the project well/met the brief well. Being able to socialise whilst cooking is made easy by positioning the hob on the island, enabling the cook to face into the room.
Iconic product design and pieces of furniture can be found throughout the home, from Jielde wall lights to Carl Hansen Elbow chairs and stools to Ercol dining units. The bulthaup b1 kitchen provided a style that worked well with all these pieces and the architecture of the property.
The grain of the natural wooden floor and classic, designer dining furniture provides warmth and contrast to the hand-finished laminate surfaces of the bulthaup b1 kitchen. In addition, the colourful artwork and decorative items bring character and charm to the space.
