The Brief
The couple were given our details by a friend of theirs who own a lakeside home located just across the water. After experiencing their friends bulthaup kitchen, and hearing about the great service provided by hobsons|choice, their mind was made up. Our clients wanted a bulthaup b3 kitchen that provided a backdrop for their decorative style. “It should be visually interesting, but not overpowering.”
The Design
The beautiful home in the Cotswolds is the epitome of cool, contemporary living. Large sliding doors link the interior space to the decked lakeside platform, effectively doubling the downstairs living area and bringing the outside, in.
Cooking was a priority for the kitchen, the space needed to provide the very best appliances with ample space for preparation. The kitchen would also have an adjacent utility room for laundry appliances and additional storage.
By aligning the island with the edge of the tall units, movement between cooking, water point and storage was as efficient as possible. It also balanced the distances on either side making the kitchen visually composed.
The plan
The placement of the Gaggenau induction hob was never in doubt. With a view across the lake why would you locate it anywhere else?
Within the tall run, Gaggenau appliances flank a pocket door unit. The interior of the pocket door is veneered in walnut to give it warmth with a stainless steel base for everyday appliances.
