The Brief
Our clients were never fully satisfied with the outdated bathrooms in their Georgian home and visited our Wiltshire showroom looking for a solution.
The main focus for our clients was the family bathroom. Their unused bathtub, positioned in a niche, wasted valuable space which they envisioned transforming into a guest ensuite for the adjoining bedroom.
Additionally, the downstairs shower room and cloakroom both required modernising, whilst maintaining a design and timeless style appropriate for the Georgian property.
The Design
Throughout the design process, our clients were actively involved in selecting materials and colours. After spending time in the showroom, they chose their favourite tiles and finishes, opting for lighter tones to brighten the rooms, which lacked natural light.
With their preferences in mind, designer, Phil Harrison refined the selections, introducing feature tiles for smaller walls to create visual interest without overwhelming the narrow spaces, ensuring a balance of elegance and simplicity.
Installation - First Floor Bathroom & NEW GUEST Ensuite
Reimagining the first floor family bathroom to create a new shower room and an additional ensuite guest bathroom required careful planning and remedial work.
Our team of skilled installers removed the existing bathtub and internal wall, restructuring the space to provide the framework for the new shower rooms.
FIRST FLOOR SHOWER ROOM
Storage was a key concern, especially given the limited space. To address this, shallow-depth vanity units were proposed, offering practical storage without encroaching on the room’s footprint, maintaining an airy, open feel while ensuring functionality.
The narrow layout of the bathrooms dictated keeping existing configurations, but with updated styling and smart use of space, the rooms felt fresh and contemporary.
An illuminated recess highlights the decorative Zehnder radiator, it’s dark tones and geometric shapes matching that of the adjacent floating Duravit vanity unit.
Guest Ensuite
The new guest ensuite takes styling cues from the family bathroom, featuring strong geometric shapes, textured tiles and clean lines. The wall-mounted Alape enamelled vanity neatly packages a basin and towel storage into a efficient, ergonomic package.
Lower Ground Floor
The use of recessed shelving within the shower area provides a practical solution for storing essentials, ensuring everything is within easy reach. The inclusion of a narrow Alape vanity unit and basin arrangement ensures the path into and out of the shower is unimpeded.
A prominent feature in the downstairs bathroom and cloakroom is the Alape Illuminated Circular Mirrors. Their integrated lighting not only enhances the mirrors’ reflective qualities but also illuminates the entire space, reducing the necessity for extra fixtures that might crowd these compact areas.
Cloakroom
The cloakroom presented an opportunity for a more adventurous design. Phil suggested raw concrete plaster for the walls, paired with a walnut-panelled feature wall, creating a bold contrast.
This combination of modern and natural materials gave the cloakroom a unique, textural quality that was both contemporary and harmonious with the home’s Georgian heritage.
To enhance the design, LED strips were installed behind the walnut paneling, creating a sleek glow that accentuated the wood's grain and added depth, enriching the cloakroom’s distinctive character. The clients embraced this bold vision, which added a striking flair to their traditional home.
