With Spring around the corner our natural desire is to spring clean; and where budgets allow, refresh our homes. So where better to start, than with a change in the kitchen – the heart of any home.

Aga ovens, or similar range cookers, are often established parts of home life for many rural homes. They provide a very special style of cooking and a ‘traditional’ aesthetic style that some may not consider fitting in a modern kitchen. It can be the restraining factor when exploring a change to contemporary kitchen furniture, that ultimately prevents an idea moving forward and it needn’t be the case.

We have worked with many clients who have wanted to combine an Aga with the modern, clean surfaces of a bulthaup kitchen. The feature image (top) shows a bulthaup b3 kitchen designed to create a statement. By combining dramatic colours, LED lighting and multiple surface finishes the Aga simply blends seamlessly into the arrangement.

A bright blue Aga oven sits comfortably in a bulthaup b3 kitchen (right upper). The client, a Chocolatier, required different worktop finishes marble, stainless steel and wood to aid in the chocolate preparation process. ‘Greige’ bulthaup b3 furniture, subtle worktop finishes and natural wood flooring create a neutral and natural backdrop to the stunning blue cooker.

The clean ‘Kaolin’ coloured bulthaup b3 furniture (right lower) strikes a perfect balance against the deep black and chrome Aga. Aluminium plinths, door handles and a stainless steel worktop create visual links between the metallic Aga and the apple veneer tall unit and island arrangement.

bulthaup kitchen furniture is sympathetic to the overall space and, with its calm linear look, is able to allow specific focal points. Architectural features such as exposed beams; an eye-catching piece of art or a traditional Aga oven can all be complemented through the careful use of materials, surfaces and design elements.
