WARM AND INVITING KITCHEN
The Brief
The homeowners envisioned a kitchen that was both functional and harmonious, favouring soft, earthy tones over greys. Inspired by a design in the Wiltshire showroom, they loved the modern yet timeless pairing of sand beige and gravel panels. Beyond aesthetics, they prioritised practicality, seeking seamless flow between the kitchen, dining, and living spaces to create a welcoming hub for social interaction.

The Design
The original layout posed significant challenges, with the kitchen confined to a small room and a music room awkwardly acting as a hallway. Even after a previous addition to the house extended the dining and living areas, the flow remained flawed, with foot traffic forced directly through the kitchen itself.
The redesign addressed these issues by removing the music room and reimagining circulation, ensuring the kitchen was no longer a thoroughfare. A widened doorway created a clear line of sight, linking the kitchen, dining, and living areas while inviting natural light. The new layout seamlessly balanced movement, cooking, and social interaction, allowing for effortless hosting, easy table setup, and unobstructed clean-up.
The island became the focal point of the redesign, featuring an elegant white marble surface with grey veining, sand beige aluminium panels, and contrasting gravel tones on the sink run and tall units. Designed for both style and function, it included recessed seating to maintain circulation and avoid pinch points. Narrow light oak herringbone flooring unified the kitchen, dining, and living areas, adding warmth and seamless continuity throughout the home.
The sink run echoed the sand beige tones of the island, maintaining a cohesive palette. A recessed wall panel behind the sink added practicality with hooks for accessories like a paper towel holder and plant hangers. Functional features included the bulthaup mixer tap for precise water control and the Quooker tap, which eliminated the need for a kettle, combining convenience with sleek design.
Appliances were seamlessly integrated, with a roller shutter unit concealing two coffee machines and featuring an oak interior for added texture and task lighting for practicality. Flush-mounted Miele appliances in soft dark grey complemented the kitchen’s palette, avoiding the harshness of black.
